Angel Antics!

Everytime I think of not putting an Angel post next, she says or does something that compels me to write about it. I also write to keep a record of the things at this particular age so that one day when she grows up and my memory fails me, I will just give this link to her to relive her childhood.

I had thought about writing a Diwali post or our Wayanad trip post or even a moving the house post, but I will probably save it for some other time.

The classic from our conversation today:

We were talking about different cities when suddenly our topic drifted
Angel : Ma, we had gone to X city right?
Me : Yes baby, we went there for a marriage
Angel : What is marriage?
Me (confused and thinking) : It involves two grown-ups and some rituals and some dancing. Just like I married your father.
Angel : Am I married?
Me(hiding my amusement) : No baby, you are too young to get married
Angel : I am big enough
Me : Ok, so whom will you marry?
Angel : I will marry you mamma
Me : Well, I am a female and you are also a female, so you cant marry me. (Don't want to introduce the concept of lesbianism yet *rolling my eyes*)
Angel(after some thinking) : Okay, I will marry papa then
And then our topic drifted again.

Well, I hope she grows up and marries when she wants to and not because she has to and yes, find a man like her papa!

When I was scolding her for something, she suddenly says: Aap please mat chillao, chillate nahi hai. (Please don't shout, we should not shout)
No wonder I stopped shouting! And I use the same lines on her when she shouts. Yes, I am one wicked momma :)

***

I told her to put her toy back at its place and she did. So I said, “Wah beta, tum to meri saari baat sunti ho” (That’s great baby, you listen to everything I say).
Immediately she replies, “To aap meri baat kyon nahi sunte?” (Then why don't you listen to me?)
:/

We were travelling somewhere at night when Angel noticed the moon and was fascinated by it. She even gave it a nickname of “moony”

Angel : Ma I want the moony. Please get me the moony.
Me :  What will you do with it baby?
Angel : I will play and dance with it

Kids these days, they ask for the moon!

Angel is a fussy eater, she is a very easy going child in all the other chores like bathing, brushing, etc but not eating. So once while feeding her, I told her : “Finish off your food quickly, I am short of time today”

To which she says : I have time mamma, I will give it to you. (Then gestures taking something out from her pocket and giving it to me) This is time, take it!

I never cease to get amazed by what goes inside that teeny weeny brain.
***

I had another facepalm moment a few days back.
While trying to lure my fussy eater into eating, I excitedly said - "Ye yummyyy khana kaun khaega?"
"Aap kha lo" pat comes the reply!
:/
***

Yet, her speech remains a little unclear and I am actually thankful for that. With all this talking, if her speech was clear too then my baby would not be a baby anymore! :)

Angel Turns TWO!

Below is my facebook update for today :

Angel : *pointing at my t-shirt that I was wearing* : What's this ? (That's her favorite phrase these days)
Me : That's a girl
Angel : What is she doing?
Me : She is dancing
Angel (Looked at me unconvincingly, shook her head and declared) : No, she is standing!! (As the girl was not moving)
Point noted! Never ever stop questioning everything princess.
I wish you retain your curious self throughout!
Happy Birthday Sweetheart! Stay Blessed

Yes Angel is two!

Now the details. We planted 2 saplings in the morning.

I made pasta for breakfast which is her favorite. Later marked her height, took the footprints and hand prints while she was asleep, also finished decorating her birthday cake at that time.
The final product :

Yes this is made by yours truly. I had baked the 2 cakes the night before, one of which is chocolate and other one is vanilla with choco chips, covered in fondant.
It would not have been the same if not for a dear friend of mine D who helped me with the fondant part
.
In the evening, we had a small gathering of relatives and friends wherein the cake was cut followed by dinner.

The best part was, Angel thoroughly enjoyed her birthday. She loved to plant the sapling, was very co-operative while marking the height, cut dissected her cake, said thank-you to everyone who wished and gifted her, readily fed cake to us and happily posed.

All in all, it was a fitting end to a great day!

At times, I still can’t believe it, Angel is TWO (without a hint of terrible two’s J)

Angel Speaks...

.. and does not stop :) She loves to talk, so much that there are times when I have to literally beg her to stop.. And when she does not talk, she expects me to talk.

This is primarily because I have talked (and still do) so much to her. Now basically, I am a quiet person. I don't like much talking and I need some quiet time in a day, while Angel is just the opposite.

Below are a few excerpts from our day to day conversations:

She was asking me one fine morning, that where is chhota chate(its a powder which aids digestion in children) ka dabba?
I told her to find it out on her own as she had took it the previous night. She was not in the mood so was insisting that I find it for her, to which I politely declined.
Angel : Mumma is a good girl. Mumma will find it :D :D

She sure knows maskabaazi !

***

I was telling her to out of the tub after her bath.
Angel : Angel will do chhap chhap in the tub first and after that will come with you (She refers to herself in third person)
Similarly, when grandma is in a hurry to take her to the park and she is peeing,
Angel : Angel is peeing, grandma wait

My yet to be 2 year old toddler know to be assertive!

***

We had gone to a birthday party and she got a return gift – a compass box in a fancy polythene
Angel : What is this?(That's her favorite phrase these days)
Me: Its a polythene
Angel : No, what is this?
Me : Its the handle of the polythene (for the lack of better word)
Angel : Just like the handle in my cycle

She retains things and connects them J

***

JN is here these days.
She asked me whether I have washed her hair that day. Since there were unseasonal showers, I hadn’t and I replied to her that since the climate is not good, I haven’t. Angel was there listening and said : Even Angel does not like climate.(Without having the slightest hint on what climate is) :D

She sure is mumma's girl!

***

Our maid comes twice, once in the morning for washing clothes and later to do the dishes.
When she came the next time, you said, "Fir se aa gai”
Next day, “Baar baar aa gai” :D :D:D

***

On 29/5/2014 morning the first thing she said after waking up “Ab 14 june oj ka bday aa gaya “ :D (I assume she was dreaming about her birthday)
I asked : What will you do on your bday?
Angel : Angel will cut the cake with the knife, pink knife no blue knife, dark blue

I will have to arrange a dark blue knife for the cake cutting J

***

We had a trip to Wayanad with my SIL and family. On our last day, she did not want to come back. “Wayanad me hi rehna hai, isi room me” is what she kept on saying

***

Few days back when I was bathing in the morning, she was vehemently knocking the door and shouting, “Angel's mumma, please come out “

It made my day!

***

She has found out a new, innovative(even if I say so myself) way of making me understand what she is saying.

Few days back, after our dinner, we were having a walk. We were as usual chatting, when all of a sudden she uttered something which sounded like "Cha-do". I was like "Kya doon","Play dough" and a few unsuccessful attempts to decode what she said. Now the thing is, she does not give up, and nor do I. So she pointed at something and asked me, "What's this?"
It was a shadow. And that was what she meant!
She is fascinated by shadows. Next came, "Baun" and I was clueless again. So she asked me, "What's the colour of this shadow?"
So any guesses on what she meant!! :)
